Program to Explore Efforts to Keep Torch Lake Blue

Joseph of the Torch Lake Protection Alliance will present a summary of the Keep Torch Lake Blue Project at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, at the Helena Township Community Center, 8751 Helena Road in Alden. The project, launched in 2022 following concerns about persistent benthic algae, is studying Torch Lake water quality through work with the U.S. Geological Survey. Findings are expected to have implications for the greater Chain of Lakes, with the USGS final report expected in late 2026 or early 2027.
