Regional Teacher of Year title for Middle School teacher
KALKASKA – In addition to being a Kalkaska Middle School math teacher, Brandi Clark has a new title – Regional Teacher of the Year for 2023-24.
Clark is one of 10 Michigan teachers chosen to be a finalist in the Michigan Teacher of the Year award , as selected by the Michigan Department of Education.
“I got the email telling me about it on Friday, but I had to keep it quiet until Monday,” says Clark, an Alma College grad who’s been teaching in Kalkaska for seven years. “Over Easter, it was hard to keep the secret.”
She represents MDE’s expansive Region 2, which covers 21 counties, roughly from Clare County north to the Mackinac Bridge and from Lake Michigan to Lake Huron.
