KALKASKA — One of the most popular, and furriest, Kalkaska winter events will not be held in 2022. The Kalkaska Winterfest, an event held most years since 1965, was billed as the largest sprint sled dog race in Michigan.
KALKASKA — The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic might have claimed yet another victim, as organizers of the annual Kalkaska Winterfest, announced the cancellation of this year’s event, according to a post on the festival’s Facebook page.
KALKASKA – Unfavorable weather conditions forced organizers to postpone the Kalkaska Winterfest earlier this year and cancel the festival altogether in 2017 and 2018.
KALKASKA – The Kalkaska Winterfest is host to the largest sprint sled dog race in the continental United States. It attracts approximately 100 teams of dogs to compete in different classes and race courses, and this year is set for Jan. 20 and Jan. 21.
