Village moves to re-establish outdoor movies

KALKASKA – The Kalkaska Village Council is hoping it planted a seed, one it’d like to see grow with the help of volunteers, by unanimously voting to approve a “movie night motion” at its regular meeting Monday, May 8.

Village officials are eager to re-establish free movie showings outside at Railroad Square, located along Maple Street between Elm and Oak streets, in downtown Kalkaska. And, the motion by trustee Diana Needham was another step in making those plans a reality.

“With the intent of providing low-cost or no-cost entertainment for families in our community, I offer a motion to authorize the village manager to work in conjunction with the Citizens-4-Kalkaska, and others as those groups emerge, in activities pertaining to providing an outdoor ‘Movie Night in Kalkaska’ activity at Railroad Square,” Needham said in reading a prepared motion.
