Village council unable to meet due to court order
KALKASKA — For the Kalkaska Village Council, it’s regular monthly meeting on Monday, Oct. 12, turned out to be the meeting that wasn’t.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the council was slated to hold the meeting online. But, as quickly as council members signed in for the meeting, Village President Harley Wales announced the meeting had been canceled and would be rescheduled for a later date.
The cancellation had more to do with events in Lansing, rather than anything in Kalkaska. Earlier on Monday, the Michigan Supreme Court issued two decisions regarding Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s executive orders related to the pandemic.
