KALKASKA — The Kalkaska Village Council did its part to work in support of the upcoming 84th National Trout Festival at its regular monthly meeting Monday, March 8, approving a trio of motions.

The three motions approved at Monday night’s virtual meeting included one to allow the hanging of a banner advertising the NTF across Cedar Street in downtown Kalkaska, as well as motions for the Grand Royale Parade and a fireworks display, with the festival set for Wednesday through Sunday, April 21-25.

All of the motions received the unanimous support of council members.

Unlike previous years, Trustee Diana Needham, who is also the chairperson for the NTF Committee, said approval for just one parade was needed, as festival planners have decided against holding the Youth Parade, which is traditionally held on a Friday.
