Two new DDA board members set to be appointed soon
KALKASKA – The Kalkaska Village Downtown Development Authority should be back to full strength, possibly as early as next month, after a rash of resignations left the seven-member board temporarily shorthanded.
Cash Cook, the DDA’s executive director, and two authority board members – Bruce Zenner II and Patty Coffee – all announced they’d be resigning within the span of a month in late August and September.
The DDA board voted to accept Cook’s resignation at its Sept. 11 meeting, after he reportedly informed members that his contract was set to expire and he would not be seeking an extension.
The effective date of his resignation is Dec. 10.
Coffee resigned following a potential misunderstanding at the DDA’s Aug. 21 meeting, with Zenner resigning a month later.
But, Cameron Porteous, who was appointed as the DDA board’s new chairman at a special meeting Sept. 19, said two new board members could be formally appointed by the Kalkaska Village Council as early as its next regular meeting in November.
According to Porteous, DDA officials were set to make their recommendation to the council’s Nominating Committee at an upcoming meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 30.
