Trump, Biden lead party votes; townships pass funding requests
KALKASKA — The fight for the Democratic nomination for president reached Michigan on Tuesday, as both Democrats and Republicans voted in the state’s primary election.
Joe Biden, a former senator and vice president, won the Democratic primary vote and Michigan’s 125 delegates. It was a trend that continued even in Kalkaska County where local liberals in Kalkaska County seemed to prefer him over the more progressive candidate, Bernie Sanders, a self-proclaimed “Democratic Socialist” senator from Vermont.
Those local voters participating in the Democratic vote chose Biden over Sanders by a wide margin, 942 to 637.
