Trojans win district, fall in regional semifinal
TRAVERSE CITY — Central Lake was the victim of some dead-eye outside shooting on Monday.
The Trojans’ watched as Mio torched the nets in a Class D boys basketball regional semifinal, burying nine triples — and missing only a few — in a 61-40 win over the Trojans at Traverse City Central.
Drew Hess knocked down four threes, River Waisanen had three, and Brennon Mills and Brendan DeFlorio each sank one as the Thunderbolts displayed good marksmanship from long range.
“I had an idea that they had one or two guys who were going to shoot the three,” said Central Lake coach Donovan Eggleston. “But I can’t imagine any team around here who shoots the three that well, to be honest. They were pretty much lights out.”
