Teaching racism is bad for our schools

Bruce Primer - Central Lake

In response to Mr. Cowell’s Letter to the Editor on Sept. 30, 2021, I readily disagree with him and that Critical Race Theory principles are critical for our schools.

CRT’s first principle — Systemic means affecting the whole of a system, embedded within and spread throughout. So who created and runs this system? Democrats, period. Oh, there are a few in government who are not and they survive by keeping their heads down but now any in government, education, big business, entertainment, media and even the military are being purged using fascist tactics. Democrats are obsessed with race and always have been. The GOP was created to fight Democrats and their slavery and racism against blacks. The Democrats fought against ending slavery during the Civil War and afterwards, the civil rights laws. The southern Democrats created the KKK as an enforcement arm to prevent the civil rights laws from being enforced. Today, their government agencies and other institutions ignore the tremendous progress made and demand we be identified by race, creed, religion, or whatever else we don’t have in common. All the better to divide and pit us against each other instead of focusing on what we do have in common. CRT seeks to destroy the structure of the institutions that keep our society functioning without stating what will replace it. Because they haven’t thought that far ahead or they don’t want us to know? We are just humans and should ascribe to being simply and proudly good Americans.
