BELLAIRE — A Township Ambulance Authority ballot proposal doubling the amount of millage levied for maintenance and operations of an ambulance service in nine Antrim County townships was approved by a large margin by voters in the May special election held on Tuesday, May 4.

The approved proposal will allow the ambulance authority to levy an up to one mill increase, which will raise a total of approximately $918,998 during the millage increase's first year in the ambulance authority's service area of Kearney, Forest Home, Central Lake, Custer, Helena, Mancelona, Chestonia, Star and Warner Township.

The new millage rate will be in effect through 2022.
