TAA fires director, appoints interim replacement
BELLAIRE – Agreeing that a "new direction" was needed, the nine-member Township Ambulance Authority board approved a motion on Feb. 27 to terminate the longtime employment of systems director Wendy Dawson.
TAA provides ambulance service to Central Lake, Chestonia, Custer, Forest Home, Helena, Kearney, Mancelona, Star and Warner townships in Antrim County.
Dawson had been employed by TAA since the organization's inception in 2003, and before that for a number of years as an employee of Allied Ambulance, which formerly provided ambulance service to the same areas.
Board president Ed Sayre, elected last August as TAA's new president, replacing longtime president Terry Smith, said that the board had recently experienced "a couple of issues" with Dawson and noted that she had been an "at-will" employee.
He did not elaborate further.
