KALKASKA – Justin Kinsella is a 14-year-old Kalkaska Middle School student with one objective; set a world record!

Kinsella recently started his community project, along with fellow KMS students, but unlike some of his classmates – he does not have a partner. So, Kinsella has made it up to himself to arrange a whole event-consisting of over 933 people.

Kinsella is planning to set a world record of “The most people wearing odd (mismatched) socks” in order to get into the Guinness Book of World Records. He is also raising money for “I.D.E.S.” (International Disaster Emergency System) in order to feed those who have been struck by natural disasters throughout the world.

Kinsella’s family has participated and arranged events at a camp called “Wilderness Christian Assembly Camp” where about 100 people ranging in ages from 3 to 102 gather each August to pack meals for hours without a break until they use up the supplies that they raised money to purchase.

As of last year they packed 48,000 meals in four to five hours. Kinsella hopes to raise even more money this year through the sock event to purchase additional supplies for meals.

The odd socks event is scheduled to take place at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 25 at the Kalkaska High School football field. He is asking only $1 per participant and is hoping for a great turnout.
