Central Lake-Ellsworth defensive back Jayce Hoogerhyde and Deckerville receiver Wyatt Janowiak battled for position of the fourth down pass, and as Hoogerhyde knocked the ball away, it all but sealed the deal for the Trojans.
State champions.
The Trojans (13-0) squashed Deckerville’s last-gasp attempt for a come-from-behind victory and came away with a 32-30 win that gave them the 8-man, Division 1 football championship and put the final stamp on an undefeated 2017 season, in a thrilling state final held Saturday at Northern Michigan University’s Superior Dome.
