FIFE LAKE – The fun just keeps on coming at the Springfield Township Park and Recreation area.

Supporters of the township park, located at the intersection of Creighton and Lund roads, went into the 2019 summer season hoping to have one special event each month.

In June, the park was host to a Community Fundraiser and Live Jam Session. And, for July, organizers are gearing up for the inaugural “First-Responders Pig Roast” set for noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 27.

“They do a lot to help keep us safe as a community,” said Tammi Budrow, one of the event’s coordinators. “We want to pay them back and honor them for that.”

The event will be held “rain or shine” and is open to the public. Not only that, it’s free and will include a pig roast, 50-50 raffle and live music.

And, for those who would like to stretch their legs a bit, the park features a recently revamped playground and new horseshoe pits. There’s also a disc golf course on the grounds.

“It’s just a great way for the community to come out and celebrate together,” Budrow said of the upcoming pig roast. “It’s a free family fun day.”

While there is no cost to attend the event, donations are welcome, with half of the funds raised on July 27 going to the Fife Lake Emergency Services.
