Side Bar - The Antrim County Building is about to get a much needed facelift

A press release from the County Administrator’s office last week carried the good news that the Antrim County Board of Commissioners (BOC) has approved spending up to $4.52 million to renovate the exterior of the County Building.
This is really good news.
Built 45 years ago, that building is probably one of the ugliest public buildings in the country. It appears to have been designed by someone either totally lacking inspirational insight or who had a serious grudge against the county. Either way, one can’t help but wonder how in the world the elected officials of that day could ever have possibly agreed to fund it.
If ever plans needed to go back to
the drawing board …
