Sad state of affairs for a public body
The Northwest Board of Health, representing four counties, has stalled due to the antics of a few. Jarris Rubingh sits on a committee which he managed to initiate and which is assigned to oversee potential grants made by the Board of Health. He recently dashed a routine grant which would have used private funds to support nutrition education, support local farmers, help the schools to balance their food service budgets, provide fresh fruits and vegetables to students and would have helped to alleviate obesity and diabetes trends in our population. His objections were in opposition to the organization funding the grant which he claimed were aligned with Critical Race Theory, their support of climate change advocacy, their stance to support statewide transportation, their goals to encourage equity and their actions to stop the Line 5 tunnel.
