Rottman is repeat pick as All-Area volleyball player of the year

REGION — There will be some big shoes to fill in the back row of Elk Rapids’ lineup next fall.

It’s the place that’s been occupied by the Elks’ libero, Anna Rottman, who has contributed more than 2,100 career digs over the past four seasons as a starter. That steady, defensive presence played a key role in the Elks’ success in recent seasons as Elk Rapids has established itself as one of the top programs in the Lake Michigan Conference.

Rottman and her defensive play earned her top honors in the area last year and she didn’t do anything to relinquish that spot this season, either, putting a fine finish to her career while repeating as the All-Area volleyball player of the year.

Rottman was a big piece of the puzzle in a 28-win campaign for the Elks, but she was just part of a talented group the Elks had — particularly in the senior class, which included four-year letterwinners in Kenzie Huber, Tori Wilkins and Alea Wilkins, three-year veterans in Madison Hall and Lillia Brookshire, and two-year contributors Hailey Bush and Sarah Campbell. Collectively those eight players have been fixtures on the court for Elk Rapids.
