Readers respond to letter writer’s comments about The Review and MACC

As a longtime subscriber to this newspaper, this letter is to clarify a position assumed by another reader about the Michigan Association of County Clerks (MACC) and clerks who serve throughout Michigan.  As a property owner in Antrim County for over 25 years, a retired Saginaw County Clerk and a past president of MACC, I was stunned by Michael Poland’s perception of clerks and MACC.

MACC is a professional organization of County Clerks.  We meet several times a year and correspond often to learn about the State statutes, duties and best practices of our profession to administer the elected office of County Clerk to our constituents fairly and equitably.  We also work with State Legislators to educate them on how present laws and those they may consider enacting affect the administration of our offices and the public we serve practically and in reality.   We offer support to all clerks to be effective in their jobs.
