Reader responds to Commissioner Ricksgers

Bruce Priemer - Central Lake

In response to Brenda Ricksgers’ LTE 0f 11/11/21 I find her Concern about signs perplexing if she is actually proud of her actions. More importantly I find her attitude toward tax payer’s money as dangerous as it gets and why voting matters. She talks about not raising taxes as meaning that she saved me money so apparently, she saved me all the money I do have by not taking it all for taxes. Her first justification for voting for higher taxes is couched as it being “very little” so that makes it ok. The idea that “it will save you around $60, enough for a couple to go out to dinner”, implies that $60 is some kind of an extravagance that we can do without as opposed to maybe some necessity. Maybe I need it for gas money to get to work which suddenly I can’t afford. Whatever I decide to do with my money is a decision only I am in a position to make and to decide what is best for me or my family.
