PTO auction fundraiser raises more than $8,000

PTO president Anja Stoldt welcomes community members to last Saturday’s Spring Auction at Rapid City Elementary School. More than 150 people attended the event, which included dinner, along with live and silent auctions to raise money for supplies, field trips and other items not covered in the school district’s general budget.
RAPID CITY – The Parent-Teacher Organization’s Spring Auction at Rapid City Elementary saw over $8,000 added to next year’s budget for field trips, classroom supplies and healthy snacks.
The fundraiser, held last Saturday, included a dinner and featured 40 live and 80 silent auction items.
PTO president Anja Stoldt said that one of the hottest items auctioned off was donated by the Cone Corral. The local pizza restaurant’s meal deal, to be used weekly for six months, went for $275.
The highest-bid item at $525 offered five cubic yards of concrete donated by LC Materials, while the most unique item of the auction were tote bags upcycled from the Kindergarten Roundup banner done by Rachele Cummings.
