Passion for the game lands Marlatt at Madonna

ELLSWORTH — Atlas Marlatt calls the day he signed to play basketball for Madonna University a dream come true.

The recent Ellsworth graduate locked up his spot on the Crusaders’ roster last month as he sat alongside the school’s head coach, Noel Emenhiser, for an official signing. That moment allowed Marlatt to accomplish a goal of playing college basketball that he set a few years ago.

“Since my sophomore year I completely devoted myself to it,” said Marlatt. “I would tell my friends, ‘I’m going to play college basketball.’ They were like, ‘No, it’s not going to happen,’ and that just gave me motivation to go after it.”
