Officials close County Road 571 due to water crossing road

COLDSPRINGS TWP. — Motorists traveling along County Road 571 in northern Kalkaska County are having to find alternate routes, after the Kalkaska County Road Commission was once again forced to close the county roadway.
John Rogers, KCRC manager, said the county agency recently closed County Road 571 at a point about a mile south of the border with Antrim County, between Twin Lake Road and Starvation Lake Road, due to water covering a low point in the road.
Persons traveling through the area are encouraged to take the detour on Barnhart Road, between Twin Lake and Starvation Lake roads, till the water on County Road 571 recedes.
