No snowmobile season yet
REGION — Michigan's snowmobile season officially opened on Wednesday, Dec. 1.
But that doesn't mean that, despite several inches of snow last weekend, the sleds should be out on the trails of Antrim and Kalkaska counties just yet.
"Although there's always some people who will jump the gun and head out there at the first sign of snow, all they're really doing is sledding in the mud, which doesn't do either their machines or the trails any favors," said former Antrim County Snowmobile Club president Mike Null, who recently retired from the position after 10 years of service.
