No injuries in Bellaire airplane crash

BELLAIRE — Four people from the Toledo, Ohio, area survived without injuries after the small airplane they were riding in crashed at the Antrim County Airport on Friday, Sept. 4.
According to Antrim County Sheriff Dan Bean, the single engine fixed wing Cessna experienced braking system problems while attempting to land, and the aircraft failed to slow as it hit the pavement of the runway.
The pilot, James G. Kusian, 68, of Toledo, Ohio, then steered the plane off the west side of the runway into the grass, which damaged the left wing and landing gear of the aircraft but allowed the plane to come to a safe stop.
