New principal hired for KHS
KALKASKA – As part of its regular meeting on Monday, June 19, the Kalkaska Public Schools Board of Education approved the hiring of Charles Sorentino to serve as the district’s new high school principal.
John Sattler, the principal at KHS for the last two years, resigned in April to accept the position of superintendent at Fairview Area Schools.
KPS Supt. Karen Sherwood told the board Monday that Sorentino’s experience included serving as an assistant principal, counselor and teacher in the Detroit area.
Sherwood also said that Sorentino was chosen from a large pool of more than 30 applicants, which she believed “says a lot about the district and the school.”
