New Bellaire elementary principal facing challenges, changes
BELLAIRE — New John Rodger Elementary School Principal Michael Banyas has his work cut out for him as he enters the Bellaire school district this fall — mainly how to effectively manage and administer the education of young children in a world where changes are occurring almost every day due to the ongoing threat of the novel coronavirus.
But that's a challenge that Banyas, who most recently could be found serving as an elementary school principal for the Gobles Public School District near Kalamazoo, is eagerly looking forward to.
Banyas is taking the principal's seat occupied for many years by Kristi Poel, who retired at the end of the 2019-2020 school year.
"I consider myself very fortunate to be part of this living and learning community," said the administrator of Bellaire earlier this week, who in other school districts during his career has also coached varsity basketball (girls and boys), football, and track.
