Lancers cross country teams win Northern Lakes Conference title


ALBA — With the way the Ellsworth boys and girls cross country teams have run against Northern Lakes Conference competition it seemed like a foregone conclusion that the Lancers would eventually hoist the league trophy.
Still, Ellsworth had to follow through and finish the task, which the Lancers did at the NLC Championships on Wednesday, Oct. 14 as they repeated as the league’s best on a hilly course in Alba. The girls team scored a low of 20 to outpace Mackinaw City, which had 49 points. The Ellsworth boys scored 36 points, well ahead of Mackinaw City’s 60.
The Ellsworth girls team placed six runners among the top 10, dominating the competition as it has all year.
