TRAVERSE CITY — Being ranked No. 6 in Division 4 often means you have a bigger target on your back to motivate opponents.
The Elk Rapids girls soccer team found that out first hand on Monday, getting a close win on the road over TC Liberty in a shootout, 3-2.
“TC Liberty showed up to play and outplayed the us the first half. We were flat and watching. We couldn’t figure out our marks on defense, and we were slow on the transition from defense to offense. We could not get numbers up on offense, thus could not capitalize on the scoring opportunities off of passes and crosses. We were too focused on where our marks were instead of playing offensively minded,” said Elk Rapids coach Andrea Krakow.
