Kearney approves pension plan increase
BELLAIRE — During a brief monthly business meeting on Monday, March 1, the Kearney Township Board of Trustees considered security cameras for the Kearney Township Hall, passed a motion allowing a credit card for the township clerk, and approved an increase in annual pension plan contributions for elected township officials.
The increase in the annual contributions, which are based on the individual salaries of the officials and paid from township tax funds, will increase for the township clerk and both township trustees from 17.5 percent to 21.2 percent, the same rate of contribution the township supervisor and treasurer receive. The motion to increase the contributions was made by Supervisor Ed Niepoth, supported by Treasurer Joyce Hagood, and unanimously approved.
Also approved was a decision allowing the township clerk a credit card with a maximum limit of $2,500 as a convenience for the clerk.
