KDPS marks successful first year with new K-9 unit
KALKASKA —The Kalkaska Department of Public Safety recently celebrated an anniversary of sorts.
KDPS Sgt. Cole Nagy at the regular meeting of the Kalkaska Village Council meeting on Monday, Nov. 9, announced it’s been “one full year” since the department welcomed Teska, a Polish-born German shepherd and Cole’s on-duty partner, to its ranks.
And, according to village officials, the first year of the partnership has been very successful, at least so far. In the last year, the K-9 unit racked up the following crime statistics, including:
