KDPS investigating car crash into village clubhouse

KALKASKA — The Kalkaska Village Clubhouse, also known as the home of the Kalkaska Snowpackers snowmobile club, will be closed indefinitely after being the victim of a single-car accident during the early morning hours of March 1.

According to the Kalkaska Department of Public Safety, a small sedan driven by a 20-year-old Kalkaska male resident slammed into the structure on the 1400 block of Island Lake Road around 4 a.m. on Monday, March 1.

KDPS Lt. Aaron Popa said the vehicle was allegedly traveling too fast for conditions before sliding sideways and hitting the clubhouse. Alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the single-vehicle accident.
