Kalkaska senior gets opportunity to play two sports at Northwestern Ohio University

KALKASKA — Northwestern Ohio University had everything Kalkaska senior Logan Kniss was looking for.

Between fielding a good baseball team and having his preferred area of study, the Lima-based school was exactly what Kniss had in mind when seeking out places to play at the next level.

Kniss picked Northwestern Ohio after reaching out to close to a dozen schools — half of which contacted him back and were showing interest — for both its baseball and automotive programs. Before he ultimately picked Northwestern Ohio, he pondered the idea of also playing soccer there, just as he has for Kalkaska over the past four years. When the opportunity came about to do both, he jumped at the chance.

“I didn’t hear back for a while,” said Kniss. “Then my athletic director (Martin Neuhoff) approached me about playing college in soccer. I knew they had a soccer team too. I thought, what the heck, why not try both? I eventually got an answer back and I set up a campus visit. I went on the visit and they offered there at the visit.”
