Kalkaska remembers those lost in 9/11 tragedy, thank those who serve

KALKASKA - Members of the community and different branches of emergency services came together at Railroad Square on Monday morning, Sept. 11, to commemorate the 16th anniversary of the national tragedy.
After local Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts began the ceremony with the Pledge of Allegiance, den leader and event organizer Kevin Crawford gave an opening statement recounting the events of Sept. 11, 2001. He reminded the audience of the number of lives lost, not just those in the twin towers but also the responding firefighters and police officers, those in the Pentagon and passengers on Flight 93.
