Kalkaska ousted by Charlevoix after controversial home run

BOYNE CITY — The Kalkaska softball team has shown its offensive spark plenty this season.
But when the Blazers needed it most, it couldn’t string enough hits together to bring in the runs it needed in a 2-1 loss to Charlevoix in a regional semifinal contest on Saturday.
Kalkaska was held scoreless until its final at bat, collected just five hits and left and stranded six runners as Charlevoix hurler Madelyn Sandison kept the Blazers in check.
