Kalkaska County Road Commission recognized for doing a U-turn
KALKASKA COUNTY — A safer work environment led to fewer injuries and allowed the Kalkaska County Road Commission to receive the Turn Around Award, announced at the County Road Association Self-Insurance Fund (CRASIF) annual membership meeting on Sept. 15.
The Turn Around Award recognizes the road commission for having the highest positive change in their workers’ compensation injury rate for the past 12 months, according to CRASIF CEO Jim deSpelder.
“The road commission decreased their injury rate factor by 52 percent,” said deSpelder. “A lower injury rate means less employees are getting injured, and the cost of workers’ compensation goes down. This is a benefit to the employees, the road commission and the taxpayers. They are to be commended for their efforts.”
“This award encourages us to continue our efforts to provide a safe working environment for our employees,” said John Rogers, manager of the Kalkaska County Road Commission. “Our employees and their attitude toward safety is a large, contributing factor in our decreased injury rate. We appreciate the recognition.”
