Kalkaska clinics helping improve health of those with diabetes
KALKASKA — A diabetes clinic being held at Kalkaska Medical Associates has grown and is proving to help those who suffer from the ailment improve their A1C levels.
The clinics, which began two years ago with one held every month, is now up to four days per month. Clinics are held each Wednesday and some Tuesdays and have been attracting 20-23 people per day. Some are traveling from as far away as Houghton Lake and Lake Ann to attend the sessions.
“We’re slowly growing it more and more,” said physician Andy Long.
Long is a family practice doctor specializing in diabetes who helps provide the special services, along with a diabetes educator and a nutritionist.
