James L. Draper

James L. Draper, 95, of Bellaire, passed away on July 30, 2022 at his home.
Jim was born on Nov. 22, 1926, in Bingham Township, MI, the son of James and Mary (Hilsenbeck) Draper.
As a young man, he helped with the building of the Mackinac bridge of which he was proud. He enjoyed deer hunting and farming, eventually opening up “Drapers Farm Market” in Bellaire. In later years, he went to work for the U.S. Postal Service and became a mail carrier.
On Apr. 25, 1945, in Traverse City, he married Ruth I. Treece who survives. Also surviving are 5 children, Sonya (Bill) Little of TN, James “Len” (Nan) Draper of Bellaire, Christine (Dave) Endres of Traverse City, Steven (Christine) Draper of Bellaire, Lisa Draper of Bellaire, 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services took place on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire. Pastor Dan Phillips officiated.
