Ironmen second, Blazers third at Kalkaska Invite
KALKASKA — Mancelona won the first three matches it wrestled, then gave Gladstone a tough battle in the championship match and earned a second-place finish at Saturday’s Kalkaska Invitational.
The host Blazers split their four matches and earned a third-place finish.
The Ironmen were unbeatable against their first three opponents, downing Sault Ste. Marie 60-19, Traverse City Central 45-36 and Kalkaska 54-30 before falling to Gladstone 46-36 in the last match of the day. The Braves went undefeated to win the tournament.
Kalkaska started strong with convincing wins over Manistique 51-18 and Rogers City 48-18. Besides the loss to Mancelona the Blazers also were defeated by Gladstone 52-30.
