Ironmen outlast Onaway in slugfest

ONAWAY — Mancelona came away victorious in a physical and close game against host Onaway on Friday, outlasting the Cardinals 58-50.
The Ironmen (2-1, 2-0 SVC) led 15-11 after the first quarter, but Onaway came roaring back to steal a 28-21 halftime as Mancelona battled foul trouble.
“Jayden (Alfred) had three fouls in the first half, Oumar (Sy) had three fouls in the first half, Trace (Miller) had three fouls in the first half,” said Mancelona coach Brian Sheridan. “There were a lot of whistles. We are a physical team and we couldn’t play the way we like to play.”
