MANCELONA — A showdown between the last two undefeated teams in the Ski Valley Conference went Pellston’s way on Tuesday, Jan. 14 as the defending league champs handed Mancelona a 72-60 loss.

Blake Cassidy poured in 43 points — his second straight game of more than 40 points — to lead the Hornets to the big victory.

Pellston scored the first seven points of the night, led by the hot hand of Cassidy, who buried six shots in the opening quarter as the Hornets took a 25-12 advantage.

“They shot really well in the first half,” said Mancelona coach Brian Sheridan. “I looked up and Blake had 15 points in the first quarter. It seems like he never misses.”
