Ironmen, off to best start in nine years, put undefeated record on the line against Boyne City

MANCELONA — When Justin Ackler, Mason Crandall, Jason Naumcheff and Adam Ackler were elementary students it probably didn’t mean much to them when Mancelona’s varsity put back to back undefeated regular football seasons together.

It probably didn’t mean much to current lineman Jake Watson, Jason Kihn, Kacy Pinney, Omar Sy, Trace Miller, Kaleb Myszak and Justin Jonson back then.  Same is probably true for returning starting defenders Aaron Anderson and Landon McCorry.

The Ironmen’s struggles, including a winless 2017 campaign — when they were middle schoolers — might not have meant much either to all the boys returning from last year’s 3-5 team.
