Ingersoll breaks school scoring record in win over Buckley

Chris Dobrowolski

FIFE LAKE — The basketball lifted off Chase Ingersoll’s fingertips and the soft floater in the paint went through the hoop to cut Forest Area’s deficit to four, 32-28, late in the first half of a boys basketball contest against Buckley on Wednesday, Jan. 29.

At that moment Ingersoll etched his name into Forest Area boys basketball history as the basket was his 1,201st point of his career, two more than Aaron Nolff’s 20-year-old school record for career scoring.

Ingersoll came into the game needing seven points to eclipse Nolff’s total and blew that out of the water in scoring 31 points as Forest Area knocked off Buckley 79-67.

“It’s pretty awesome,” said Ingersoll. “A lot of hard work goes into doing that, but I thank my coaches and my teammates for everything I’ve gotten in life and basketball, for sure. It’s amazing.”
