Hydrology study's lake level data shows impact of Bellaire Dam
BELLAIRE — Lake level data of Antrim County's Chain Of Lakes collected during an ongoing hydrology study shows the impact of the Bellaire Dam on the chain's water levels, according to an update of the study presented to the Antrim County Board of Commissioners last week.
The study, which is being conducted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in cooperation with Antrim County through Operator of Dams Mark Stone and the Intermediate Lake Association, began in the fall of 2019 after Antrim County agreed to contribute $77,000 to the $365,000 study, which is being primarily funded by the Corps of Engineers.
The study is the first official step toward finding a possible solution to lowering record high water levels and curbing flooding, which was experienced by riparian property owners throughout the Chain between 2013 and 2019.
