REGION — Standout seasons on the softball diamond earned Bellaire’s Mackenzie Hoogerhyde and Mancelona’s Summer Robbins a pair of spots on the All-Ski Valley Conference first team.

The first team was dominated by league co-champions Onaway and Inland Lakes, but Hoogerhyde, a sophomore infielder, and Robbins, a senior picked as an at-large selection, managed to join the top squad.

Hoogerhyde was arguably the best hitter across the region, batting .494 with an .877 slugging percentage. She slugged seven home runs and eight doubles among her 40 hits and drove in 40 runs.

Robbins missed time due to injury but still managed to dominate from the pitcher’s circle as the Lady Ironmen’s No. 1 hurler.

Eight of the 12 first-team picks came from Onaway or Inland Lakes, which split their league doubleheader to share the conference crown. Making the first team from Onaway was pitcher Calley Selke, infielder Kayla Metty and outfielders Kennedy Crawford and Jordan Larson. Inland Lakes had pitcher Gracie Henckel, catcher Amber Passino, infielder Precious Delos Santos and outfielder Kelsey Van Daele. The other first-team picks were Johannesburg-Lewiston’s Grace Boden and Gaylord St. Mary’s Summer Sullivan.
