Helsel puts stamp on a stellar ski season

BELLAIRE — There will be a couple month break from the slopes.

Don’t be mistaken, though. Luke Helsel is already hard at work for next year’s alpine ski season.

Helsel has a laser focus on next year after a quick break from his sport. His time off was less than a week before he was eager to begin a regimen of leg and core work, with cardio workouts integrated into his routine.

“I had about a three-day break and then I got back into the gym,” said Helsel, a Bellaire High School student. “That was kind of my wind down. My coaches, they said ‘Take a break, then get back in the gym and start working toward next year.’”
