Health Dept. Board accepts health officer's resignation
CHARLEVOIX - During an emotional monthly meeting of the Health Dept. of Northwest Michigan's Board of Health, a motion to reject a letter of resignation from health officer Lisa Peacock failed by a vote of five to three and was quickly followed by a motion to approve Peacock's Feb. 22 letter and thank her for her years of service, which was approved.
In her letter of resignation, Peacock cited a "hostile work environment" and a lack of support from some of the health board's members. The HDNM covers the four-county area of Antrim, Charlevoix, Emmet, and Otsego counties.
Because her contract requires she give 60 days’ notice before resignation, Peacock's last day of work will be April 29.
