Guggemos finishes under 16 minutes, wins McBain NMC Invitational
MCBAIN — Kalkaska’s Tyler Guggemos started his senior year of cross country with a bang on Friday, finishing under 16 minutes for the first time in his career with a winning performance of 15:55 to lead the Blazers’ boys team to a first-place team finish.
Guggemos’ personal record, which allowed him to win the race by more than a minute, was one of four PRs for the Blazers’ boys squad. Hayden Moore (3rd, 17:23), Gavin Guggemos (7th, 18:16) and Camden Moore (9th, 18:32) also recorded PRs in a standout day for Kalkaska. Jacob Olds, who was Kalkaska’s fifth counter, ran a 16th-place time of 20:34.
The Kalkaska girls were third, led by medalist Brooklyn Whiteford, who was ninth in 24:13. Ellie Holka was 15th in 27:38, Ava Ivkovich was 21st in 32:04, Kara Olds took 24th in 35:23 and enna Rabourn was 27th in 37:53.
