Four medical marijuana grow operations target Kalkaska as new home
KALKASKA – In the 1970s and 80s Kalkaska benefitted from a boon in the state’s oil and natural gas industry. Now, 40 years later, the Village of Kalkaska could benefit from new growth of a different industry.
Village officials are currently preparing to review as many as four applications for commercial grow operations – for marijuana.
Scott Yost, Kalkaska village manager, said he was slated to meet Wednesday, Oct. 4, with members of an ad-hoc committee that will help review the applications for the commercial medical marijuana grow operations. The purpose of the meeting is to establish the procedure for considering the application and the process for approval.
