FIFE LAKE – The population of downtown Fife Lake is again expected to explode, at least temporarily, with the kickoff of the lakeside community’s annual “Best Fourth In The North” celebration on Saturday, June 30.

The holiday celebration gets underway with a full day of activities on Saturday, including a farmer’s market from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., an art and craft show that also runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., an always popular car show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and later a boat parade from 7-10 p.m.

The first day of fun and festivities also includes “Movies in the Park” starting at dusk.

The second day of the festival includes even more family-friendly events, starting off with a North Country Trail guided hike at 9 a.m. Those interested in participating should gather at the Mirror Lake parking lot on Fourth Street. And, the art and craft show continues for a second day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The park area on the shores of Fife Lake in downtown Fife Lake gets busy with a bevy of events on July 1, with kids games (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.), a bounce house (11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) and fun and funny “Old Time Family Lawn Races” for all ages (2:30-4:30 p.m.).

For music lovers, there will be live music and “dancing in the street” on Sunday from 5-9 p.m., along with Elvis tribute artist “Jake Slater” at 5 p.m. and a performance by the Woodshed Crew at 7 p.m.

Festival-goers get to take a break and maybe enjoy some time on the water on Monday and Tuesday, July 2-3, as there are no activities slated.

But, the excitement picks back next Wednesday, the Fourth of July, as local residents and visitors gather to celebrate the country’s anniversary of becoming a nation.
